Consultant stories: Aswin Krishnan Appu Radhakrishnan
When Aswin Krishnan Appu Radhakrishnan moved from Kerala, India, to Norway in 2019, he had a clear goal: to build a life here.
“I had wanted to work in Norway for a long time before I moved. The nature, the work culture, and the way people live here all made a strong impression on me. After arriving, I quickly felt that this was a place where I wanted to stay,” he says.
Today, he lives in Trondheim and works as a Commissioning Engineer SAS & Instrument for Equinor through Omega 365 Consulting. After gaining experience from several companies and working in different countries, there is one thing he especially appreciates about Omega 365 Consulting:
“It doesn’t feel like a company that only focuses on placing you in an assignment and then moving on. They genuinely follow up and care about how you are doing, both professionally and personally. That means a lot, especially when you come from another country and are building a new life here.”
Aswin highlights teambuilding activities, courses, and support for Norwegian language training as important initiatives for employees moving to Norway.
“Language is very important if you want to feel included. When I arrived here, it helped a lot that Omega offered support for Norwegian courses and other learning opportunities. It makes the transition easier, and you feel that the company wants you to succeed, not only at work, but also in everyday life.”
Although the dark winter season was unfamiliar at first, he has found good ways to adapt.
“The temperature is not really the difficult part. I have worked in different countries, so I’m used to different conditions. But the darkness during winter can be challenging. That’s why I try to stay social, meet friends, go on cabin trips, and stay active. It helps to get out and experience new things together with other people.”
In his free time, he enjoys travelling and hiking in the mountains, and he describes Trondheim as a warm and welcoming city to live in.
His journey to Omega 365 Consulting started with recommendations from former colleagues.
“I knew several people working at Omega, and everyone spoke very positively about the company. When I got in touch with Gunn and had our first conversations, I immediately got a good feeling. It felt honest and trustworthy, and that was important to me.”
Aswin has a bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering and has always had a strong interest in technology. In his work, he is especially focused on ownership and responsibility.
“I try not to think of myself as a consultant when I’m working on projects. For me, it’s about taking responsibility for the work that needs to be done and delivering what the customer needs. If you show ownership of your work, you build trust, both in yourself and in Omega.”
He believes this mindset is one of the most important qualities of being a good consultant.
“You are not only representing yourself. The way you work also affects how the customer sees your company. That’s why I always try to do my best, stay solution-oriented, and build trust through the work I deliver.”
Looking ahead, Aswin hopes to continue developing within technical leadership and take on more responsibility in larger projects.
“I want to continue growing technically, but also take on leadership responsibilities and help drive projects forward. What motivates me is creating results together with others and constantly learning new things.”
And one thing he is certain about:
“I am genuinely proud to work at Omega. I feel valued here, and that makes me want to give something back through the work I do.”
